Ice your shoulder for 20 minutes every other hour. These are the instructions the nurse at the ER in Taos gave me. Though I am sure it was meant to reduce the initial swelling of the injury, I have continued to perform the task, the best I can, even to this day. Call me crazy, but it feels nice to numb the area that occasionally burns like hell fire, and feels like Katniss just landed and arrow in it! So I ice it.
Here is the downside...I get cold pretty easily! And when I put ice on my injury it makes me shiver, which doesn't do anything for the broken bone in my shoulder. And let's face it, though it's been nice the past few days, winter isn't over. What I wouldn't give for a fireplace. Thankfully, I have a heated blanket. Though it's a little temperamental. I currently have it on LOW, specifically, over the 'O'. If I pass the 'W' I'll roast like a Thanksgiving turkey. #firstworldproblems
Here is a link to a nice new heated blanket if you're feeling generous and would like to buy it for me :-) Thanks and gig'em!
